Where to play pinball machines when they have disappeared from the bars? If you also love this game, here’s some good news: the Pinball Club Regio Basel, an association of enthusiasts, opens the doors of its premises in Münchenstein, near Basel, Switzerland, one weekend a month.

Indiana Jones, South Park, Arabian Nights, Lord of the Rings, Avatar, Doctor Who, Pirates of the Caribbean, Star Trek, Shrek… 57 models of pinball machines have been collected over the years and can be played freely, provided that you pay 25 Swiss francs (about 25 euros) for the entrance. Then stay as long as you want and test as many pinball machines as you like!

The atmosphere is good, the volunteers of the association propose drinks and snacks but no catering. It’s very nice to play pinball machines from different eras (the oldest one is from 1973, the newest one from 2013) and with such varied themes (TV series, movies, music bands, books…).

Don’t expect to break any records: the people of the association train for competitions on these pinball machines! They speak English well and will be happy to answer your questions and share their passion with you.

The only drawback is that the premises of the Flipper Club Regio Basel are located in a business park. Follow the signs to find the entrance, it is not obvious.

Unless you are really into pinball machines, the round trip to the Flipper Club Regio Basel from the Lower Rhine in the same day can be a bit of a hassle. Why not stay the weekend in Basel? The city itself offers many possibilities, and you can also go and relax at the Sole Uno thermal baths or visit the Alsatian region of Sundgau.
